Jedidiah Dream Initiative began in September 2020 as the Jedidiah Talom Foundation, created to carry forward Jedidiahβs dream of uplifting those facing hardship and creating opportunities for a better future. Her dream began with a desire to help underprivileged girls in Africa access menstrual products, education, and opportunities to thrive.
As our understanding of the needs around us grew, so did the dream. In November 2025, we became Jedidiah Dream Initiative, expanding our mission to bring hope, health, and empowerment to underserved communities in the United States and Africa.
Today, we promote youth mental health, with a focus on African immigrant youth and children of African immigrants; advance health equity, prevention, and access to healthcare; and empower girls through menstrual health, education, life skills, and opportunity.

Jedidiah Talom was a compassionate, creative young woman with a heart for others. A gifted artist and natural leader, she had a special way of making people around her feel seen, valued, and loved.
Just months before her passing in September 2019, Jedidiah shared a dream of helping underprivileged girls in Africa access menstrual products, education, and opportunities for a better future.
She never had the opportunity to bring that dream to life.
So we chose to carry it forward.
Today, that dream has grown into Jedidiah Dream Initiative β bringing hope, health, and empowerment to underserved communities in the United States and Africa.
Her dream started it. Together, we carry it forward.
This October, we are bringing African parents and their children together to explore identity, belonging, and the communication gaps that can leave young people feeling misunderstood or alone. Together, we will learn how to strengthen communication, support emotional well-being, and recognize when professional help may be needed.

This August, we are helping 100 children in Cameroon prepare for a healthier school year by providing insecticide-treated mosquito nets and essential health resources. Through Clinique BeWellβs Healthy Back to School campaign, our support will reinforce malaria prevention, health education, and healthy habits that help children stay well and learn.

Nathalie Talom is Jedidiahβs mother and a healthcare and public health professional. As Founder and Executive Director of Jedidiah Dream Initiative, she is passionate about carrying forward Jedidiahβs dream while improving the health and well-being of underserved communities.

Treasurer Melinda holds degrees in Engineering and Finance from Texas A&M University and works at the university in College Station, Texas. A mother of two, she brings her professional experience and commitment to service to the Jedidiah Dream Initiative.
